A former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Ayikoi Otoo, has refuted claims that the late
JB Danquah
Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa North constituency, JB Danquah-Adu lent some money to the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, for his campaign, during the party’s presidential primary.

Rumours had been rife on social media that the late MP lent some money to Mr Akufo-Addo to support his presidential bid, but Mr Otoo has dismissed the claim as false.

“There is equally no evidence that he lent some dollars to the NPP flagbearer and that allegation also has no basis,” Mr Otoo noted in a post on his Facebook post on his wall on 14 February, 2016.

The lawyer also revealed that: “JB had no presidential ambitions and the inferences of murder being linked to that non-existent ambition ought to be treated with the contempt it deserves”.
Meanwhile the Accra Regional Police Command has handed over investigations into the late MP’s murder to the national headquarters of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service.

A team of security officials led by Accra Regional Police Commander COP Dr George Akuffo Dampare picked up a suspect identified as Daniel Asiedu on Thursday 11 February, 2016.
Several personal effects of the late MP were found in the possession of the prime suspect.
Investigations are ongoing to apprehend other individuals he revealed as his accomplices.
