Nana Akufo-Addo
The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party Nana Akufo-Addo has described President John Mahama’s ‘evidence-based’ State of the Nation Address as an embarrassing exercise in mediocrity.

According to him, the act of calling out names of the supposed beneficiaries of government interventions undermines the seriousness that must be attached to the state of the nation address.

President John Mahama in his last state of the nation address in Parliament Thursday took time to showcase individuals, he claims, have benefited immensely from the various interventions by his government.
In all, about 16 individuals were called out in the course of the address.

In his own ‘real state of the nation’ address Monday, the former attorney general said the President should have also showcased the beneficiaries of the corrupt practices under his administration.

“I celebrate with the sixteen "success" stories the President presented. Unfortunately, their stories do not constitute the reality in Ghana...the President's theatrical show staged in Parliament was an embarrassing exercise in mediocrity.

“In fact, the President failed to present the group who really benefited from his government: Woyome, looters of SADA, GYEEDA, Bus Branding.

"...There had been no mention of water problems from the President's address. By all standards, we have a drought situation in this country. It appears we have a President who is out of touch with the country he is governing,” Akufo-Addo bemoaned.
